    Editor for BF2 Python

+1 for Notepad++ is by far the best out there (with out looking in to IDE's) can beat it for the syntax highlighting as well as its feature set. It's what I personally use for all my development needs, Battlefield, Web, Programming (when not using an IDE)

    Level Strange Water Reflection Problem

Hey guys i am wondering if any one has come across this before, in any level i create using the BF2Edtitor setup for BF2142 i seem to have a very strange problem with what i think is the reflections on my waterlevels the problem is that half of the water on my map seems to have no reflection what so ever and look like it has a mat finish as a pose to the nice glossy reflection finish of the othr half i have linked to two pics that show the problem better than what i am describing. Normal shot of my level/ Shot of my level With the water level set above the terrain. I have followed [EoD]Junglist Tutorial Creating A Map For Begginers - (very Image Heavy) to creative this level Its a tesating map thuis not a lot of content. i have completed al steps mentioned in the tutorial including Fully light mapping the level and implamenting the proper evnmap's and hemimap i just have no idea whats going on. i am wondering if its some thing to do with how the mod is set up, or how my editor is set up or even if its to do with my graphics card and Just incase my Grfx card is an XFX Radion HD 6870 Black Edition with the very latest drivers (one of the first things i checked when i noticed this was if i was running current drivers.) any help would be greatly apreciated. thanx Lee

    Level Strange Water Reflection Problem

thanx for the reply and yes i agree its a lightmapping problem, however a bit of good news, it appears this is only an Editor bug for me as when i run the acctual level the water is fine. its more than likely some thing to do with the way my editor is set up, so for now its not that important afterall. thank you for the reply though !!

    BF Technical Information Wiki

Update 2 So the Anti-Spam i enabled wasent really helpinmg had three bots join within the first hour of having the site up and 5 spam pages created when i last checked 20 mins a go so iv deleted those users and disabled registration for the time being. Update The Wiki is up and running again with some anti-spam bot measure installed e.g captcha and useragent checking utilities I'v also removed all users accounts thus far created, this was a security measure in order to br fully spambot free, i know this is a pain for those legit users that have created an account and i apologise, you are more than welcome to re-create your account on the wiki though, and hopefully with the new Anti-Spambot measure in place we wont need to go through this again. Additionally the wiki has now been upgraded to Version 1.18.2 Original Post Taken my version of the wiki down due to two things 1. the origional wiki was back up and online, i see its down again (show as a blank white page). 2. The wiki was riddles with spam articles and bots. i'll bring the site back online, however before i do ill be looking in to spam-bot prevntion.

    Ea's Origin - Eula Warning !

exactly one of the reasons why i wont be using it, if sony were hacked that easely then im sure Ea can be aswell

    Ea's Origin - Eula Warning !

That's very true however, the following is total speculation on my part, im willing to bet that EA have tied the scanning engine to the same port their client or game authentication system uses so if you block the scanner from sending data you will also prevent any games you have installed from being verified and authenticated every time their launched, thus preventing you from playing them. Either that or there will be some form of self integrity check that is performed every time the client is ran that checks to see if the necessary ports are open or have been blocked. In also willing to bet that if they find the ports needed to run the client are blocked it will prevent you from using the client entirely. It's not far stretch in the imagination to go form what EA have already done in the Eula to what im speculating above. It would take some network packet analysis on the client to see what ports its using when sending and receiving authentication data and when sending out its scanning data, and unfortunately again in the EULA you are expressly forbidden to do any form of analysis on the client its self. I suppose however you could get away with saying that you are merely scanning your network interfaces for data analysis and it just so happens that origin is sending out its data e.t.c at the same time. food for thought.

    Ea's Origin - Eula Warning !

Also an update about the web based origin store (and i am asuming the client based origin store) Upon reviewing Origin as a whole i came across the following article http://gotgame.com/2011/06/15/ea-origins-keeps-your-games-after-one-year/ i noticed this little gem EA have decided to spin on us Please Note: This applies to the UK and US Terms of Sale, The Terms of Sale in other countries needs to be checked. PLease pay particular attention to the bold underlined second of the quote below. Now the bold underlined section is extremity vague when it states "The products and services that we make available on the Websites may be downloaded or accessed for at least one year after you have completed your purchase." so again that grants origin to, lets take BF3 as an example , revoke your access to BF3 after at lest one year with our needing to grant any repayments to any one that purchased it. Now im not saying that is what they are going to do im saying that is what they can do if they so wish to with any product on their store. this is effectivly stating that if EA so whishes it can enforce what can only be described as a subscription type of transaction atleast once a year with any product that is purchased through ORIGIN, now i know for one that when i buy games i buythem for life not just for a year. Link to the - US Terms of Sale: http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/termsofsale/US/en/PC/ Link to the - UK Terms of Sale: http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/termsofsale/UK/en/PC/ SO looks like not only are EA trampling on our rights and privacy there now effectively saying we will take your money for "entitlement" a and potentially a year down the road you will be required to buy it again. Now time to amend my previous personal statement towards EA I am now Boycotting Origin and any game sold on origin or sold that requires origin an all manners and forms until such time as you (EA) remove the policies and caluses that infringe on your customers rights, liberties , privacy and rental ship of your games and products, quite Franky EA im am utterly discussed with your conduct as a business as of late.

    Ea's Origin - Eula Warning !

Actually it clearly states that you (by signing or accepting the EULA) expressly give them permission to and ill quote (see bold and underlined sections quoted below): This specific section states that you are granting EA and its affiliate present and future legal access to any date stored on your computer in the forms stated above regardless of its content. just those two sections of the EULA right there expressly give them the right by law to scan your computer and collect any kind of data on it and to use it to their own needs. Again this is a statement of intent, as the statement above clearly grants them the legal right to collect personally identifiable data, in this statement they say yet again saying we have the right to but at the point in time wont enforce that right to collect personally identifiable data. Additionally any data being obtained that can identify your computer e.g your I.P. Address or Internet Protocol Address Any Hardware ID's can be directly traced to you via your computer! there is also another section later on in the EULA that states Meaning if any action taken by law under the acces and rights your granting the is deemed illegal they can simply re-write or change the EULA so that the function of the program remains e.g it still scanning your data but so that it can do legally in the eyes of the law again one further section states this The basics of this section are a get out of free jail card for EA as it clearly state no class action lawsuit's can be made by you after installing origin. Please note the bolded section, its there in plain English guys ! Please note that the arbitration portion of this section does not apply for residents of Quebec, Russia, Switzerland and the Member States of the European Union. even though they say they do not intend to collect personally identifiable data DOSE NOT mean they cannot!!! and finally again as in most EULA's the origin EULA can me update and or amended at any time with out prior consent to its users, This means it is down to you the end user to keep track of what that EULA gives them legal access and rights to in the eyes of the law Again i Highly advice any one thinking about getting a game or application that requires the Origin Client to be installed to simply walk away. It is time we as a people stopped big corporations from walking all over our rights privacy and liberties with such EULA's So im sending an open invitation to all that see Origin for what it truly is to walk away from EA by boycotting any game that comes out with the pre-requasit of installing the Origin client (and any of its descendants) until such time as EA amend the EULA so it is not so intrusive and you legally still retain your privacy or they totally remove the scanning section altogether. after all guys this si just another big company that is saying i own you and every thing you are. If enough of us take a stand it will be noticed, if enough of us boycott their products their sales figured will show it, if enough of us rally together we can make them see they cannot throw users rights and privacy away at a whim when very like like, if enough of take a stand up and say not they HAVE TO LISTEN. After all what are their games if not for people like us who play them.

    Ea's Origin - Eula Warning !

Problem you are missing there is origin is a pre-requasit by that i mean you are required or rather forced to download and install the Origin client before any games even toutch your hard drive. there for even before you have the game or any other that comes out requiring origin you are granting EA its partners and any one elses they bring on whom are permitted to use origins data-mining permission to access all data on your computer, scan , upload to their servers and store said data. so it really dosent matter if BF3 can be played offline as by that time you would have been forced already to install origin. Also and update on this, their new updated EULA atill sates the exact same thing. and a further update EA and Steam are currently in a massive legal battle as EA are attempting top pull all IP's (games) from steam and being them over to origin, basically EA are attempting to force origin on any one who uses any EA product past present and future. is it not the time now we all stand up and say NO to EA, i think it is. So you not worried that when you install origin and signe its EULA (grating EA permission) they will then be permitted to access any data (data is anything sorted electronically on your computer) e.g bank details personal details, any works related information or projects e.t.c, you are signing an agreement that gives EA the right by law to scan copy transmit and stre this data to their own servers or analysis, and let me make one thing clear here to even though EA state they will not scan for personal data you are still given them the right to if they choose to, and remmeber they can update that eula with out notice to any on it falls to the end user to keep them elevenses informed about the EULA continence and any updates to it. and before any one jumps on the band waggon of "ohh thats illegal and or steling" not its not as you gave signed an agreemebt between your self and EA that waivers your privacy and rights to that data. you in effect have granted them express permission to access any thing they want on your compute !
