I started messing around with the Battlefield 2 Editor back when it was first released. I began creating weird maps with no textures or dead-looking to fabulous and highly progressive and popular maps.
Such maps would be Clearing Night V5 which brought many members to the clan of =ESA= and the server was populated 12/12 everyday for a month after it's release.
My delayed FFA City map is now being completed after I was deliberately wrongly accused and kicked out of my own clan. But I am not going to let that sh*t ruin my mapping skills.
I also hope EA creates or releases their BF3 Editor so us mappers can make good maps on their, which it might actually be easy to say it won't happen with the new Frostbite 2 engine...
