Texture Not Found

Recommended Posts

Check in your mod's \menu\atlas directory for a *.tai file, open this in Notepad (like a txt document) and search that for this same texture file. Should exist and point to one of the .dds files in that same directory - if it doesnt, you need to brush up a bit on packing menu atlases. Should be some threads here on that, probably even some tools by Rexman or others to help out. The HUD stuff isnt as straightforward as messing around with the source images out in the expanded directories.

Simple fix

rename the missing file to DDS (preferably within its zip file) and you will no longer get that error

If a file has a TGA extension it needs to be mounted in the atlas,if it has a DDS extension it doesnt need to be mounted in the atlas

well, last time you could rename extensions was back in Windows 95

Huh ?

No, you just have to untick 'Hide extensions for known filetypes' in the Folder Options on your system to show and rename extensions.

But of course the fileformat does not magically change. I doubt that renaming a TGA to DDS will work as stated in the above post.

Making a textureatlas is not so hard , btw. Read this thread to get enlightment:

Or do as I posted above,"rename the missing file to DDS (preferably within its zip file)"as within the rar file, the extension is already shown

I dont ;)

If the flag texture with that name already exists in the BF2 Atlas the game gets confused. Create an Atlas in your mod and it will get rid of these problems. Only DDS files will show up in BF2, there's no rendering support for other formats ( unfortunately ), so a TGA texture will not work.

The Atlas will always take precedence over the discrete files.

loading the images as DDSs will work ok, but:

* but perform increasingly badly as you add more images,

* not work for ATI graphics cards users once you start using non-power-2 textures.

like mschoeldgen says, make your own atlas. there are provided tools which makes the process childs play.
