Sirhc405
When I package my mod and level so I can send it to the rest of my team to have a look at... it says can't find textures for the objects when we load up the map despite the textures being there. I put the textures for each of my objects in a "textures" folder inside each object's folder. Is this wrong? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. TNE26
Is the object included with the map? Is it packaged and mounted to the map properly (client files in client, server files in server, maybe mounted as external Objects_[Client/Server].zip)
Catbox
what is the path of your object and textures?
Sirhc405
The objects are included with the mod, not the map. But yes the map has the objects on. Well the first error I got was for a brick block which path is: C/Program Files/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/Mods/SMB/Objects/brick_block/textures And yes I did package the mod. And thats the same path that the error message said it couldn't find the textures. Isn't it supposed to look in objects_client and server zips for the objects not the actual objects folder? Catbox
open the map in the editor... when it tries to load the static... it will have red text in the window that will say where the missing textures should be... hard to tell why bf2 cant find the txtures without seeing the mod and files... at least for me...lol
Sirhc405
Nope no errors. But something very interesting I did find... if I extract the object client and server to my objects folder... the map loads fine. So why would that be? Maybe becuase I used the editor to pack the mod and map?
mschoeldgen[Xww2]
If this is a newly created object you probably have an absolute path in your mesh which points to a location on your machine instead of a relative path. Examine your mesh with 'BF2Materials.EXE' by Rexman to find out about the texture pathes. You should also check your BF2 toolchain setup for Max. http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9648 Also note that BF2 will only digest DDS textures. Sirhc405
I forgot to mention im using Gmax, will the toolchain setup still work on it? I've got the bf2 tools pack installed already. Edited May 24, 2009 by Sirhc405
Catbox
are your textures .dds? you use .tga in gmax and then when you export... you point to the .dds textures in your objects/staticobjects/textures (or wherever you have your textures? Sirhc405
Yep and yep. I think I might have found the problem, I think it's on the export settings, on part 2 I didn't have /mods/mymod in it. I need to re-export all my objects before I can test it again so I'll reply with my findings. EDIT: Yep that fixed it, let that be a lesson to others who are as forgetfull as me.
