How To Export Collisionmesh

Recommended Posts

there's several tutorials and examples here. explain the problem you're having

collision meshes usually are linked to a helper called nonvis_ which in turn is linked to the main object

so if your object is a SimpleObject called MyObject, you'd have something like

MyObject__SimpleObject

->nonvis_

---->col0

---->col1

---->col2

---->col3

obviously with the above example you'd also have the root, geomX and lodX helpers in the right spots

collision meshes use standard max materials and can be applied as multi-sub selections, i.e. each material will have its own material ID

col3 is only needed if you intend to have bots in your maps and if your object would interfere with their pathing somehow, i.e. they need to walk over or around it.

For future reference,  I have created/collected/updated tutorials for collision mesh Hierarchy and setup.  My main focus was AImesh set up and exporting, but since the Aimesh is the collision3 and the collision meshes have to be set up and exported together, with the collsion3/Aimesh only need to navmeshing, these tutorials are useful for all collision meshes:
