Attack Choppers

I would like to know how I add two types of Missiles for the Attack Choppers.

My aim is to give the choppers both Laser Guided Missiles and TV Guided Missiles.

I know how to do the Laser Guided, but I don't know how to set them as different opinions, like in the handheld weapons...

Can anyone guide me in the right direction? No pun intended.

Add the two weapons as normal, then give them different item indexes. You should then be able to switch normally, without needing to do anything else, iirc. If in doubt, take a look at the attack heli front gunner's seat, where you can change between the minigun and tv guided missiles.

That's the problem.....

In seat 2 you can use the Minigun or the TV Guided missiles.

I want to give the Co Pilot the use of TV Guided Hellfires and Laser Guided Hellfires, aswell as the use of the Minigun...

Is that possible before I start tweaking?

Yeah, sure. Just shove in another weapon, and give it itemindex 3. (or move the minigun to index 3 and have your second missiles index 2)

So, I can do this.....

Minigun Index 1

TV Guided Hellfires Index 2

Laser Guided Hellfires Index 3

As the Hellfire uses HellFireLauncherTV, will I be able to set the Laser Guided to use HellFireLauncherTV too?

And how will I do this...

If a person uses one Hellfire with TV Guided, there will be 7 Hellfires left for both TV Guided and Laser Guided. If I set up two weapons, they will use their own ammo, if I'm right....

well for some very strange reason i cant get the missles to fire,i added a set of mavericks to the helo,ill keep looking into it for ya,im keen to find out about this myself too

I've used the F-15 code as a template for the Laser Guided Hellfires.

I just changed the

USAIR_F15_

to

AHE_AH1Z_

Then changed the Maverick and Maverick Dummy to Hellfire and Hellfire Dummy.

Only problem is when I use the Laser Guided Missiles, I get an error saying

No barrel configured for this MultiFireArm

OK, I've fixed that problem.

Now I have another one.

I have assigned the indexes, but the only the Cannon and TV Guided are selectable when Gunner. That and, even though I assigned 4 TV Guided, still 8 appear.....

yeah thats exactly where i am stuck atm,can select the missles but cant fire them,the number 4 index really shouldnt be selectable,cuz it uses the..

ObjectTemplate.ammo.magLinkWeapon

to switch from missle to missle when its locked on...very strange its not working,their may be something hard coded to not allow it to have another type of guided missle system...ill keep trying though..lol

BEEX, I think you were getting the bug due to the TV Guided and Laser Guided had the same index (Index 2)

Also, I believe if you change the projectile from Maverick to Hellfire and remove the code for the dummy positions, it should work....Right??

yeah i changed the hellfires index to 4,i forgot to tell ya that..ooops..lol

it might be a good idea for ya to copy the maverick folder(server only) and rename it to hellfire_laserg,something like that,but add the geometry and collision from the hellfire,easy to do.

you should be able to use the hellfire dummy.

if that doesnt work copy the maverick dummy folder rename it and change geometry and collision to the hellfire.

Well, it works great ingame, with the mavericks that is....

Only problem is that on the HUD no icons appear with the triangle/square as the HUD for the Laser Guided is the Cannon HUD....

How do I add the icon function?

i think if you change the gui index to the same as the f-15 guided missle controller,for both hellfire laser and hellfire tv sections of the cobra tweak.

I've tried that, and called it agm114_hellfirelgdummy, but even with me using the Maverick and renaming it....

Everytime I go to use it I get an error.....

Is there no way I can make the Hellfires have a MultiFireComp instead of a SingleFireComp?

It works ok using the SingleFireComp but the Hellfires don't show a visual/verbal "I have him locked" like the Mavericks.....

Can anyone help?

lets take a step back,copy the agm65_maverick, agm65_maverick_tv and maverick dummy folder and rename them to whatever ya want to name them ,and rename any instance of those names in the tweak and con files,in both of those tweaks and .con's replace the collision and geometry with the hellfire and hellfire dummy.

the multifire comp is what will make the weapon switch from a non lock- on to a lock-on missile,some multifire comp weapons need a dummy version of the missle or it will crash the game,this line (below) will make it crash if you do not have a barrel dummy

btw you could probly move the other hellfires into the hellfire section the same way the maverick laser/tv section is setup,so thehellfires dummies dissapear after firing,cuz where they are now they wont disapear,dunno why dice left em in that section.

but get the mavericks workin first..lol

what programme do you use to add weopons or moddify objects, terrain etc? im currently using bf2editor but im not sure how to use it propely and im also not sure if its the right programme to use?

I mainly use Notepad to add things onto vehicles like adding new generic fire arms and adding meshes like the Hellfire_dummy.

Then, use the Editor in ObjectEditor mode to finalise it.
