We made it even better!

One week ago, we released USI 2.0 (Ver 0.2f) after 4 years of hard work. We received many bug reports and half the maps was crashing, but for those who played, it was fun. Luckily we stayed on top of thing and kept working all week to deliver yet another full build with a bunch of tweaks to improve the game. That’s right the US Intervention team and BlackSandStudios presents USI 2.0 (ver 0.2g). The build was fully debugged by Devilman, the crashing issue was discovered by Neo82 and Knallkopp_02. BloodyDeed provided the test server we have been using to fine tune this version. This is another full build and there is no need to uninstall the first version. The installer will clear the mod folder for you.

Menu:
Reduced the size of the missile and bomb track and lock icons.
Tweaked huds for SU-25s and A-10s.
Updateded the localization file (English Only)
Vehicles:
Tweaked flight physics on F-117, Mig-25, A7, Ah-1s, and gazelles.
All rocket pods had fire rates removed, you can now just hold the trigger and let them rip.
Tweaked velocities on all tank main guns.
Added zoom to Shilka, M-163, Gaskin, using “right click”. Shilka w/missiles, Avenger using “X”.
Tweaked zoom on the stationary TOW.
Removed the bomb code from the Harrier flyover effect, was causing each map it was placed on to crash online.
All payloads adjusted for balance.
Sounds:
Missile and rocket sound files renamed, 1p and 3p was reversed.
Loop marker add to the rocket sounds for the changes made to the fire arm codes.
Maps:
Road files sorted out for Battle of Kirkuk Oilfields. The cause for this map crashing
Removed unwanted files from all map folders.
Tweaked all maps to aim for better performance. (view distances, fog settings, ect…)
Regenerated terrain lightmaps for Weapon Compound level.
Python:
Scoring was adjusted to meet ranked server requirements.
Removed the “get in there and fight” code.

Although we have already released and soon will have another release, the dev team would love to know just how many out there will enjoy USI so go and cast your votes.

As we have mentioned before, the Frag Fest event planning is underway.* Like in the past, the dev team holds a closed beta named Frag Fest where other dev teams and news admins are invited to test and play.* We have 60 slots open that we wish to fill in order to truly test this build. The Frag Fest version will have only maps we have not released yet (9 to 10 maps). As of now the event will be on Saturday, December 17th from 8pm to 12am Est (GMT -5). This time was chosen in case players from the US and UK can join if needed. We have two weeks to fill the server. After week one if the server is not filled, we will invite Clans to play. The build should be available in the AM of the 16th or sooner.

US Intervention Mod

Well as the final touch ups are being made to USI, we decided to try and at least give the menu a new look since we were using the basic BF2 layout. The layout remains the same however we did manage to change up on the colors.



The new menu files were included in the latest test build (2.0d) for bug search along with some map fixes and tweaks. There has been a discussion started on the subject of a closed beta to pack a few servers and stress test the build before release. If all goes well we will have another Frag Fest to test the closed beta. We welcome all developers for all BF2 mods as well as the admin from various fan sites to join us for this event.
