Use a shortcut to 'bf2_r.exe' ( looks like a standard shortcut to BF2.exe but with the added properties in the Target line:
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2_r.EXE +ai 1 +menu 1 +fullScreen 0 +dedicated"
Note that you should edit your maplist first so that the server has a list of maps to work with. A single map is sufficient.
+ai 1 is only necessary when you run COOP games.

Doesn't work for me.
When I start up the mod with "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2_r.exe" +modPath mods/BF2_Airsoft +ai 1 +menu 1 +fullScreen 0 +dedicated
It just crashes instantly, and there is no error report at all. (Except the one with dump folder)
I have 3 maps available, and they are all working when I launch them in non-dedicated debugger.

If your BF2 server is already upgraded to 1.5 the problem is caused by the new menu files and the differing profile formats in /My Documents/Battlefield 2/

To run the debug server you'll need a 1.41 install . Unfortunately its a bit complicated although 2 different BF2 versions can co-exist on one machine:
1. Install BF2 from the DVD and upgrade it to 1.41 .
2. Install the BF2 Editor.
3. Copy the whole game folder to a second location.
4. Upgrade the original installation to 1.5 . This will be the installation where you edit and create maps and mods.
5. Optionally you can delete editor-specific files from the second install, only leave the debugger stuff ( files with *_r ) there.
6. Create shortcuts to comfortably launch the debugger from the second install after the above example and copy the mod or map under test to that 1.41 installation.

7. Don't forget to toggle the above mentioned folder name in /My Documents else the debugger will either crash or destroy your online profile.

Admittedly it *is* a bit complicated but for serious problems, especially those only happening in WAN/LAN games its really helpful. Besides the debugger is an interesting tool to explore the BF2 engine

You where right about the ticker, I think the engine just choose the RateOfFire there is closest to a allowed number.
Anyway, I'm just going to adjust the ROF by changing the sounds, it works now, and it will work in the future.

And I got myself a website, with a section for the mod: http://liguster.weeb...f2-airsoft.html
